Meet your Las Vegas Foodie Friend – Nicky Ellis

Nicky has been with Taste Buzz Food Tours since Novemeber 2018. Although being a food tour guide for Taste Buzz is her first official foodie job, Nicky considers herself a foodie since the day she was born. “Since I was 9 years old I was a chubby girl! I love food, I love to eat, and I always knew that one day I was going to be doing something in the food and beverage industry.”

It’s no doubt Nicky has “foodie” flowing in her veins. She’s originally from Chicago, one of the top restaurant city’s in the USA. It wasn’t until she decided to leave corporate America in 2017 to finally pursue her passion in the food and beverage industry.

Nicky had been working in human resources and management development for 10 years but her job was stressful and she was unhappy. One day, her and her husband decided to pack up and move to Las Vegas where she started her food and travel blog called Nicky’s Savory Travels, combining her two hobbies. Las Vegas is her home base and when she’s not hosting visitors on a Taste Buzz food tour on the Las Vegas Strip,  she travels the world, eats, and writes about her adventures! She has traveled to 47 of our continental 50 united states, and 25 countries in 6 continents. Her goals are to visit Alaska, Montana, and Mississippi by next year, Antarctica when she turns 50, and every country during her lifetime.

What is your favorite part about working for Taste Buzz Food Tours?

Meeting people from all over the world. I get to learn about all the different cultures domestically and internationally, and I love seeing people’s reactions to food when they try something new. I also get to learn a lot about all the different hotels we have here in Vegas.

What’s your favorite activity on your day off?

Food exploring off the Las Vegas Strip.

What’s your favorite restaurant in Las Vegas?

Firefly. I love the different variety of tapas and they have a great white and sparkling sangria.

What is your favorite food?

Mexican and Pizza. Enchilada Suiza is my favorite Mexican dish, and I like both Chicago pan style pizza and New York thin crust.

What’s the weirdest food you’ve ever eaten?

Goose meat. It tasted like roast beef and it was delicious! I’ve also had kangaroo burger. I loved it! It’s the leanest protein. It was juicy and just a hint of sweetness.
